The Phenomenal Snark
From AntiPhilosopher

You've never seen a sunset, never heard a concert, and never felt a lover's touch. And your brain has been telling you big whoppers about last weekend.
very preliminary .... commentary on how all "phenomenality" is in fact synthetic. As with "color" we don't really perceive those things outside of us as they are, but as some *construct of our brain* that it generates to model and predict outside events. This is not a purely semantic statement: every perceptual illusion, Necker cubes and Shepard tones and all the rest are direct and immediate evidence.
It is amusing that the romantic poets seemed to be very aware of this and angstily writing of it almost a century before scientists caught on, and it seems many philosophers still haven't gotten the memo.
